Andrew Clarke's blogAre fundamentalists actually Christians? That's the question posed in this blog entry, which I discovered totally at random (when looking for a way to import vCards into Thunderbird, my preferred email program). Check it out and see what you think. I like the arguments that this guy presents. http://way.nu/archives/category/spirituality/ Real servant leadership in congregational careI recently resigned from the Congregational Care Committee because I'm leaving Toronto and moving to Vancouver. I found this hard, because even though I'm way too busy to be on this committee, I always enjoyed it. It's been especially enjoyable recently since Sandra Hellyer took over as the chair, because Sandra does such a great job at appreciating everyone's contributions. She makes sure to thank everyone for every little thing, which just makes it so much more fun to actually DO those little things. Open Source Software Communities as Gift EconomiesMalcolm posted a blog entry recently, and in it he mentioned that "You can offer services for free without expecting money every time." I posted a comment on it in which I said I would post this paper in my own blog. So, here it is! login to post comments | 1 attachment
Be a Good Buzz!As you may know, our new website is built on a platform called Drupal. Toronto has a large and active community of Drupal users, who all communicate with each other using an internet mailing list. This week, a new person joined the list and introduced himself. I thought his project (which is also built using Drupal) sounded like something that the Metropolitan community would be interested in. Check it out! Great piece by James Carroll on Pope Benedict's MistakeHave a look at this piece by James Carroll, which I recently read in the International Herald Tribune. Sums up quite nicely what I personally believe about religious tolerance. I think it reflects the views of many in the Met community. http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/07/17/opinion/edcarroll.php login to post comments
First attempt at the suggestions tracking featureOk, well, Claire called me today. She is busy making up documentaiton about how to do things on the site. We had already decided that one of the things she's going to be showing people how to do is to submit suggestions for future enhancement of the website. Creation of some kind of infrastructure to support this was on my personal Todo list. So, today I did a bit of work and got a first draft of this working. There's a form, which you can access here (if you're an authenticated user), and a view, which you can access here (even if you're not). The eventual placement of the menu items linking to these things is up for debate. For now, I just created some buried links in the the "how to use this website" page. Presentation at Drupalcamp TorontoAttached is the material I'm planning to use to lead the session on May 12, 3pm at DrupalcampToronto. Comments are welcome!
