Metropolitan presents its third K@MP (Kids at Met Performing) - a day camp for the performing arts from August 27-31. Children ages 4-6 participate for the morning (9 am to noon), children ages 7-11 and youth ages 12 up participate for the full day until 3:30 p.m. Participants will sing, dance, play instruments, act - and present a brief show on Friday, August 31 at 11 a.m. Teachers include Metropolitan singers Alison Roy, Benjamin Stein, Christina Stelmacovich and also teacher/dancer Markus Howard. Taize Worship, based on the teachings of Brother Roger from Taize France, uses music with simple melody lines and periods of silence to quiet the soul and renew the spirit. There is no sermon--just a meditative service with candlelight, prayers, readings, silence, and soft music with repetitive words. Hard to believe it's September already! Come on out and have some fun while we give some loving attention to the property of Met United. Metropolitan's Noon at Met free organ recital series begins again on Thursday, September 13 with Metropolitan's organist Patricia Wright playing works by Bach and Buxtehude. Donations will be accepted. Metropolitan's Casavant pipe organ is the largest in Canada with over 8200 pipes and five keyboards.
