Metropolitan presents its third K@MP (Kids at Met Performing) - a day camp for the performing arts from August 27-31. Children ages 4-6 participate for the morning (9 am to noon), children ages 7-11 and youth ages 12 up participate for the full day until 3:30 p.m. Participants will sing, dance, play instruments, act - and present a brief show on Friday, August 31 at 11 a.m. Teachers include Metropolitan singers Alison Roy, Benjamin Stein, Christina Stelmacovich and also teacher/dancer Markus Howard.

Taize Worship, based on the teachings of Brother Roger from Taize France, uses music with simple melody lines and periods of silence to quiet the soul and renew the spirit. There is no sermon--just a meditative service with candlelight, prayers, readings, silence, and soft music with repetitive words. The service offers a wonderful opportunity to be silent and center on The Lord.

Led by the Met Labyrinth group and the Rev. John Joseph Mastandrea.

The Toronto Urban Native Ministries will be beginning our fall services on September 7. Join us in the Met centre, entering by the west door. All are welcome.

Hard to believe it's September already! Come on out and have some fun while we give some loving attention to the property of Met United.

There are some projects that need to be done, and require help in completion. We are looking for volunteers to help with various tasks both inside and outside the church.

Meetings will resume on Saturday, September 8. The book to be discused is THE STONE ANGEL by Margater Lawrence. The October selection is GILEAD by Marilynne Robinson. All are welcome!

Stimulate your Sunday morning curiosity with other keen people.  “One Question Bible Study" happens downstairs in the Heritage Room from 10:00 to 10:30 sharp. Dr. Malcolm Sinclair will introduce a brief biblical text and set the scene. He'll then pose a good, meaty question and let the games begin. ItÃ's rich. It's deep. It's real. Jump in.

GATHERING SUNDAY

Metropolitan United Church bids everyone a warm welcome as we gather together at the end of a busy summertime. 

At this service The Metropolitan Silver Band and The Metropolitan Choir will perform.  Worship is at 11:00 a.m. with the Carillon prelude beginning outside at 10:30 am and the organ prelude at 10:45 am inside.

The first Congregational Care of the 2007/2008 season. Anyone interested in becoming a committee member is welcome!

Metropolitan's Noon at Met free organ recital series begins again on Thursday, September 13 with Metropolitan's organist Patricia Wright playing works by Bach and Buxtehude. Donations will be accepted.

Metropolitan's Casavant pipe organ is the largest in Canada with over 8200 pipes and five keyboards.

Welcome to this brief time of relaxation and beautiful music in the middle of a busy day!

The Metropolitan Handbells rehearse on Thursday evenings in the Dining Room. 

The Handbell choir is under the direction of Margaret Metcalfe. Our three-octave set of Schulmerich handbells was donated in memory of Peter Campbell and Roy Rigg.

The Metropolitan Choir meets at 7:30 in the Chancel Room.

The Toronto Urban Native Ministries continue our Friday evening services. Rev. Andrew Wesley, Rev. Allen Sinclair and Elizabeth Pike provide leadership.

We meet in the Met centre, entering by the West door. All are welcome!

The "Help Lesotho" Grandmothers Support Group is having a planning meeting after the Worship Service, in the Heritage Room. Everyone - men and women - are welcome to attend.

The CIC Youth Ensemble is Metropolitan's music group for youth ages 12 and older.

This ensemble rehearses on Sunday afternoons and sings a wide variety of music under the direction of composer-arranger and Metropolitan soloist Benjamin Stein.

Dr. Paul Murray was the Director of Music and Organist of Metropolitan from 1961-1967.  All are welcome to celebrate the life and work of our friend and colleague who died in Halifax in July.  A reception will follow in the Dining Room.

The first music committee meeting of the season will take place Monday in the Chancel Room.
