Christian Education

Mission

Provide opportunities to nurture spiritual growth and increase understanding of the nature of Christian life, in relation to the world around us, for people of all ages in the Metropolitan community. 

Function

1. Monitor and study the educational needs of the congregation.

2. Provide leadership in designing, conducting and evaluating programs to deepen the knowledge and understanding of Christian teachings, past, present and future.

3. Study and evaluate the Christian Education program materials available from the United Church of Canada.

4. Ensure the healthy maintenance of a Christian Education teching program for children and youth.

5. Oversee the safety and maintenance of furnishings and materials used for children's programs.

6. Hire, supervise, evaluate the teachers needed for the current children's programs.

7. Offer information and resources about current educational issues, to the congregation through the Library Resource sub-committee.\

8. Ensure that all committee expenditures remain within the approved budget.

9. Report regularly to the Official Board.

10. Report annually to the congregation.

Each committee member (or several members) will be responsible for a specific function.
