Our Church is splendid. It connects our community to the roots of Methodism and the United Church in downtown Toronto. We remember the milestones:
• 1818 The log chapel onf Bay Street
• 1832 The Wesleyan Chapel on Adelaide
• 1872 The Cathedral of Methodism on McGill Square
• 1928 The new Metropolitan Church after the fire
• 2005 The new Metropolitan Centre
. Now is the time to preserve the building we enjoy today. It is the hub of our ministry. Continuing to support the setting that houses our high quality worship, Christian education, outreach, and community service is essential.
We have a hopeful future, and immediate restoration and repair needs we must address. The foundation leaks. Pinnacles on the roof have shifted. Our sanctuary lighting is below modern safety standards. We have budgeted $110,000 for these repairs in 2010. We are drawing on our trust funds to meet these demands. We are also requesting a special thank offering of $30,000 this year from the congregation to supplement these draws and other income.
Please donate generously to this special Property Appeal and watch the results. Thank offerings beyond this objective will go towards a Building Fund that we need to support many other on-going and preventative maintenance requirements.
This year is our building’s 82nd anniversary. It is time to make building stewardship a priority. You can donate by cheque or offering envelope, or by visiting our web-site at www.metunited.org (and clicking on "Donate Now” through CanadaHelps.org – in the bottom left corner). You can specify a lump sum payment, or monthly payments, and a charitable receipt will be available immediately.
