REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL
The Official Board of Metropolitan United Church is undertaking a visioning process in 2012 to help guide its programs in the coming years. Metropolitan will be celebrating its 200th anniversary in 2018 and this will set a path to lead it into its 3rd century of ministry in downtown Toronto. The visioning process will both create a shared vision for the church and serve as a means to engage the congregation, community partners, and other friends of Metropolitan.
This request for proposal is for a consultant to design a process to lead the congregation through a visioning process that will have as its outcome a vision for the future. The plan is to initiate the visioning process at the February 26th 2012 Annual Meeting and report to the congregation in early fall 2012. An administrative assistant will be available to provide operational support for the visioning process.
The key work of the consultant will be:
1) To help the Official Board with advice and guidance in creating the key questions that will lead the visioning process. The word “vision” can mean a broad range of things to people and it is important to be clear about intent and what a positive outcome will look like.
2) To work with the Official Board to design the process for obtaining input from the congregation, community partners and other friends of Metropolitan on the key questions. This could include surveys, focus groups, interviews and other activities. It is not expected that the consultant will participate in these activities, but rather help with the design.
3) To work with the Official Board to synthesize the findings for a report to the congregation.
The proposed budget for this work is $10,000.
Applicants will submit a brief proposal outlining your interest and proposed approach with the following information:
1. Your experience with visioning efforts.
2. Your experience working with not for profit organizations, voluntary Boards and/or church congregations.
3. A proposed framework for the visioning process.
4. Specific process ideas and methods for gathering the critical information.
5. A high-level work plan and timeline based on our requirements as outlined above.
