Lunch and Learn on First Nations issues

Sunday, September 21, 12:30-2 pm.

Be sure to mark down Sunday, September 21 on your calendar. Met’s Peace and Social Justice Committee is conducting a Lunch and Learn following the service, in the Met Centre. The focus of this event is First Nations issues and concerns. There will be three speakers, names TBA. The first speaker will give us a follow-up on the Residential Schools, and will be followed by a speaker talking about the current land dispute in Eastern Ontario whereby mining companies are encroaching on land claimed by Native people. A third speaker will tell us what it is like for aboriginal people to live in a large urban area – i.e. Toronto. There will be plenty of time for questions following the addresses and lunch will be served.

The Peace and Social Justice committee organizes regular Lunch and Learn sessions; everyone is welcome!

The P and SJ committee usually meets on the second Sunday of every month – everyone is welcome to attend their meetings as well. Notices of the meetings are posted on the church website and in the Sunday calendar, as well as announced from the pulpit.
