Functions
General Functions
- Define the mission and goals of any Outreach programs or projects carried out under the committee's mandate.
- Oversee the budgeting and budget monitoring of any Outreach programs or projects carried out under the committee's mandate.
- Design and deliver communication programs and other reports to the congregation in order to develop their understanding of, and commitment to, the mandate of this committee.
- Support the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada.
- Inform the congregation about issues of peace and social justice that arise in the larger community, and the rest of the world.
- Support the Narthex Committee to provide a welcoming presence to mid-week visitors.
Community Services Program Functions
- Review the Director of Community Service's planning and implementation of programs and projects in relation to a defined mission and goals.
- Be aware of and stay informed via monthly reports, of the programs and activities designed to meet the mission and goals.
- Review and evaluate the effectiveness of Community Services programs and activities, in collaboration with the Director.
- Promote on-going liaison with community agencies and organizations to assess the relevance of our programs, and avoid unnecessary duplication.
- Assist in the preparation of all grant applications, keep the larger organization aware of such applications, and monitor the administration of these applications.
- Ensure that all volunteers and staff are screened, and given adequate training and support.
- The chair of the committee, along with some or all committee members, and the Ministry and Personnel committee will oversee the hiring of the Director of Community Services.
- The chair of the committee and a representative of the Ministry and Personnel committee will oversee the evaluation of the Director of Community Services.
