I was fascinated to hear the rationale behind the ringing of worship bells here at Iona. Just before each service the bell is rung in three groups of seven gongs. The seven is for the seven places of Christ found in St. Patrick's Breastplate, and the groupings of three for the Trinity. This is very effective. I wondered if you and Gerald might find it evocative to end each carillon recital before Sunday worship with the 7X3 tolling of a single bell. It would represent that worship is about to begin and would become a distinctive Metropolitan call to prayer.
Thoughts?
