United Church ArchivesIn the past, the Archives of the United Church of Canada have been held in Toronto at Victoria College. The mutual agreement between the church and the university governing these Archives and their cost has broken down and the archives will close to the public in December. The following is a link which gives more information and contains a petition individuals can sign if they wish to encourage the parties to return to negotiation in order to maintain the Archives at Victoria. http://www.savethearchives.ca/ It is certainly useful to students and historians to have the Archives available at a university such as U. of T. If this matter is of concern to you, please do sign the petition. Thanks for the heads up,
Thanks for the heads up, Connie. What is the proposal for the Archives? Will they be sent to the Provincial Archives? simply kept in storage at Vic? I agree that it is a tremendous advantage to have the Archives centrally located, catalogued and properly cared for ; genealogists also make use of them.  An aside: when I was a student at vic, 1956-60 (yeah, I'm old!), my roomates' mother, Mrs. Betty Nicholson, worked in the Archives, then housed in Wymilwood.
