From The Rev. Karen Bowles:
I have two announcements. The first is that I will preach Mother’s Day for the first time this Sunday. I have shied away from doing so in the past as Mother’s Day is certainly not a day in the Christian calendar and as it is a difficult day for so many. But I think I have found a way into it this year that dovetails, that ‘fits’ with the lectionary readings. The second announcement I have to share with you is that this is my last month with you. My time with you was always to be limited by the interim nature of the position and by my anticipated retirement.
I am pleased to say that it is very difficult to leave this community and I would not have it any other way.
Hope to see you Sunday and please don’t forget to send in a picture or two of one who has been ‘mother’ in your life, biological or chosen, to email@example.com so we may share them during our service.
Join us at 10:45 a.m. when members of our Metropolitan Choristers play piano and violin for a special Mother’s Day prelude. The service is available on our livestream page at metunited.ca/live,
