Draw Near: The Advent & Christmas season at Metropolitan

Hope is a promise this world longs for and is found in the most unlikely of places.  Metropolitan's annual Christmas pageant is a much beloved re-telling of the familiar story of Jesus's birth - angels and shepherds and donkeys, oh my!

At this service we’ll be collecting warm winter items such as toques, mitts, scarves, socks, and underwear to be given out during the cold months at the Winter Meal Program and by the Community Services team. New items only please! If you won't be at the service but would still like to contribute, please get in touch with Stephanie (stephaniec@metunited.ca) to coordinate delivery.

  • Prelude: Pastorale, op. 19 (Franck); Rorate, coeli, op. 8 no. 1 (Desmessieux)
  • Anthems:
    •  I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day (Hall/Oliver/Herms)
    • Mary, Did You Know? (Lowry/Greene)
    • No Small Wonder (Edwards)
  • Choristers: Sing We Now of Christmas (arr. Manor)
  • Offertory Carol: The First Nowell
  • Postlude: Toccata on Veni Emmanuel (Carter)

The carillon prelude on Sunday is played by guest carillonneur Andrea McCrady, Dominion Carillonneur of Canada.
