  Gifts to Metropolitan United Church transform lives. Thanks to the ongoing, generous support of our members and friends,  Metropolitan is able to:

      -  reach out to the lonely and troubled by providing nurture and practical support
      -  develop effective educational programs so that all may grow in wisdom and spiritual well-being
      -  continue a long tradition of richly meaningful worship and great preaching
      -  encourage a renowned program of outstanding instrumental and choral music for all ages
      -  maintain a heritage building that is used 7 days a week   
      -  provide a safe and nurturing community — for everyone

Ways You May Give

We have many ways you may support Metropolitan; there is one just right for you.  We believe that generosity is a sign of a well rounded life and so we encourage regular support of the church's ministries.  You are welcome at Metropolitan, however, regardless of your financial circumstance.  For assistance, please contact Elena in the church office at (416) 363-0331, ext. 29; This email address is being protected from spambots. 1.   On Line

You may give a gift of any amount to any area of our church's work.  Please click the Donate Now button above. 

2.   Pre Authorizied Remittance (PAR) 

PARMonthly deductions from your bank account are convenient and easy to set up.  With PAR, you know that your gifts come to Metropolitan even if you cannot. You decide the amount; your gift will be withdrawn on the 20th of each month. The church will supply you with offering cards so that when you attend worship, you may participate in the offering by presenting your card.  Please call the church office to arrange.

3.   Credit Card

Many use their Visa, Master Card or American Express to make monthly, weekly or occasional gifts.  The amount and timing of your gift is yours to decide.  For regular gifts by credit card, the church will supply you with offering cards so that when you attend worship, you may actively participate in the offering by presenting your card.  Please call the church office to arrange.

  You may provide post-dated cheques to the church or give periodically by cheque either in person or through the mail.

  5.  Offering Envelopes 

   The church will provide you with a set of weekly offering envelopes in which you may include your cheque or cash gift to place   on the offering plate during worship. If you would like to contribute on a regular basis, please ask for a set of envelopes that you may use and that enables the church to credit your gifts for receipting purposes.  Visitors are encouraged to use the green envelopes that may be found in the pews.

6.  Gifts of Publicly Listed Securities

Gifts of publicly listed stocks, bonds, shares and mutual funds to Metropolitan are easy to arrange and can provide you with significant tax savings.  Gifts of securities often enable you to make larger gifts without having an impact on your annual income.  Please call the church office to arrange.

7.  Legacy Giving  

Legacy (planned) gifts such as bequests, annuities, gifts of insurance or trusts benefit both the church and the donor.  You may make a gift of any amount and direct it to any area of our church's work. Legacy gifts can also result in significant tax savings for your estate.  When you leave a legacy gift to Metropolitan you are automatically a member of the honorary Metropolitan Legacy Circle.  To explore ideas, please contact Doug Flanders at (416) 769-2746 or This email address is being protected from spambots. 8.  The United Way  

Do you give to the United Way through work?  You may specify that any portion of your gift go to Metropolitan United Church.

Over the years, many have given gifts in kind to Metropolitan — a piano for a meeting room; food, clothing and kitchen equipment for our outreach programs; office supplies; furnishings for the church library. You may have something to give; Metropolitan may have a need. When possible, the church will provide a tax receipt for the value of your gift.

Additional Information for You 

Metropolitan is a congregation of The United Church of Canada and a registered Canadian charity.

Our charitable registration number is 129946588RR0001.  

Metropolitan will issue you a tax receipt at year-end for gifts of $20 and over.  The more you give, the greater the tax benefit is to you.  A gift of $100 provides you with a $20 credit towards your income tax; a gift of $1000 gives you a $361 credit; a gift of $10,000 provides you with a tax credit of almost $4000.
