Metropolitan United Church has a lending library containing more than 1300 books, videos and tapes, which are available to everyone, members and adherents alike. The library is situated in the Metropolitan Centre (lower level) and is staffed by a team of committed volunteers until 1:00 p.m. on Sundays. Interested in seeing what's in our collection? You can visit an online catalogue from our wonderful lending library now.
You can borrow anything for one month, and then return what you've borrowed in the "book box" found on the back pew of the church on Sunday mornings.
Our return system operates on good faith, but we know how busy people are. If you happen to forget to return the book, one of our volunteers might give you a quick call to see if you're still reading it, because someone else might be waiting to check it out.
Donations of new or gently used books are welcome in the following categories:
- modern theology
- world religions
- current problems or trends about which Christians are, or ought to be, concerned (such as the environment)
- prayer, meditation or help for family members
- children's books, including traditional Bible stories, but also books that focus on values rather than doctrine, especially books parnet can read to their children, or that older children can read on their own.
If you don't have time to browse our stacks, we hope to use this website to showcase books from our collection with brief book reviews and profiles. If you'd like to contribute a review, please let us know.
