Metropolitan United Church depends on the generosity of its members, friends and neighbours. A church is much more than a building for Sunday services. Metropolitan United is busy throughout the week with volunteers who work on many different programs, some religious, some reflecting a commitment to social service.
Contribute Your Time
The gift of one's time and talents is invaluable, and Metropolitan counts on its volunteers to make our programs shine. Your commitment ed not be long-term: there are many opportunities, from helping with one-time short-term projects to sitting on boards and committees.
Here's an overview of current volunteer opportunities at Metropolitan.
Social services. Volunteers are needed for the Out of the Cold Program and for many other activities to help the disadvantaged people of downtown Toronto. Contact Bill Chapman at 416 363-0331 ext 22 to see what you might be able to do.
Committees: A number of our working committees are looking for new members. If you're interested and would like further information, please contact Linn Holness or Rev. John Joseph Mastandrea at 416-363-0331, ext. 24.
As one of Toronto's busiest churches, ministering to the city's core, Metropolitan needs to feel the generosity of its members and neighbours. All donations to Metropolitan will receive tax receipts at year end. More details are available here.
We rely on generous donations of gifts-in-kind to support many of our outreach/community services. Here is what we need right now:
Food Cupboard: We run a food bank and are in continual need of non-perishable food items, food for babies etc.
Clothing Room: We are always looking for men's clothing, including jeans, sweatshirts, t-shirts and casual shoes.
Out of the Cold lunch program: we serve home-made cookies at our weekly Out of the Cold lunch during the cold months. Donations of cookies are welcome, and empty cookie tins are provided in the Narthex each Sunday.
