Creation Time. New Time for Early Communion. #ForTheFuture. Fall Events.

Metropolitan United Church
MET Connect September 8, 2019 (2nd Edition!)
Gathering Sunday

Gathering Sunday

Creation Time in the Season of Pentecost

The next four Sundays, we celebrate Creation.  The root of this season in our tradition is the liturgical Ember Days, quarterly periods during the early church that marked the changing of the seasons and the liturgical cycles of the church.  It is appropriate that we take this time to celebrate with wonder and gratitude the gift of this remarkable place and seek to find new ways and rediscover some of the old ways of "living with respect in Creation."

The liturgical colour of this time is Orange, the colour of sunrise and sunset, harvest and fruitfulness, change and creativity, the red of passion tempered by the yellow of wisdom.

This Sunday, September 8
at 11 a.m. on Ocean Sunday, The Rev. Karen Bowles will be preaching on a "Charter Addition." We also welcome back The Metropolitan Choir and Silver Band - full music details follow through the link below.

Also leading in worship are The Rev. Jason Meyers, Minister of Music Dr. Patricia Wright, Wayne C. Vance Organ Scholar Timothy Wisnicki, carillonneur Roy Lee, and the Metropolitan Silver Band conducted by Fran Harvey.

Communion Service will take place in the Founders' Chapel at 9 a.m.

A Summer of Spiritual Practices Wraps Up

Summer doesn't have to end! Catch up on the complete series of podcasts for A Summer of Spiritual Practices. The final week focussed on 'Humility,' and Jason offered the following advice moving forward:

"As we begin a new season here at Metropolitan, take some time this week to make a ‘spiritual practices plan' for yourself. What choices can you make in the coming months to bring you closer to God and God's people? And remember, the spiritual journey is a shared journey. Consider meeting a friend from church for coffee to share your plan and to occasionally check in with each other."
