December 27,2019

Greetings all,

I hope you have each had a Merry Christmas (whether relatively quiet or busy) and that the services here at MET have contributed to your sense of the presence of God. I am indeed blessed to be part of this place, albeit for only a short time.

I am writing with an update on the transition and further details of the pillar talks coming up. Just as a reminder, in my first letter, I spoke of the Mission statement of MET and taking stock of that statement in light of the rightly ever present question: What is God calling us to do in this place, as this community? I spoke of consultation with the congregation, the staff, the Board and the surrounding community.

To that end, there will be three facilitated Pillar Talks (Sundays after worship) in the new year, with a fourth date held in reserve if needed. The first two will concentrate on the Four Pillars, and the third will include a presentation of some leadership and governance models together with input invited on the strengths and requirements needed for the ministerial positions going forward. A light lunch will be served.

February 9                            Congregational Care & Spiritual Learning for Life Pillars Talk
February 23                          Outreach and Integrated Arts Pillars Talk
March 8                                Governance models and input on position descriptions
May 3                                   If required

If you have any questions or concerns you may contact me or the Transition Team at transition@metunited.ca.

So on we go together, in the company of one another and in presence of God.
