In our Proverbs reading this week we hear of "Wisdom crying out in the street." There is lament and anger over the peoples' selfish behaviour in relation to God and creation. Following a summer of forest fires, floods and drought, we gather on this first Sunday in the liturgical season of Creation to imagine what Creation itself is crying out in these days.

  • Brass Prelude: Various (arr. Marlatt, Iveson, Marlatt, King)
  • Readings: Proverbs 1:20-33; James 3:1-12; Mark 8:27-38
  • Sermon: “After the Fire" (The Rev. Jason Meyers)
  • Anthems:
    • Through All The World Below (arr. McAfee)
    • Yabban, Yamman (Lang)
  • Brass Offertory: “Prelude” from Te Deum (arr. Smith)
  • Postlude: Nearer My God to Thee (arr. Lutz)

The cornerstone of our week, worship at 11am is offered under the leadership of The Rev. Jason Francis Meyers, Dr. Patricia Wright, The Rev. Mark Aitchison, and lead singers of the Metropolitan Choir. This week we also welcome a brass quintet from the Metropolitan Silver Band, under the direction of Fran Harvey.

We are now reopen for in-person worship. Information on registration and health protocols can be found here.

The service is livestreamed to YouTube, Facebook and here on our site at beginning with the prelude beginning at approximately 10:45am. You may need to refresh your page if you arrive early.
