Our 94 year old sanctuary needs restoration and repair. Care must be taken with the acoustics so that they may be preserved if not improved. This labour-intensive project will include:

  • comprehensive repair of plaster and stonework,

  • a thorough and painstaking cleaning and sealing of all surfaces, and

  • painting the sanctuary — this was last done in 1962. The work will require scaffolding and special skills, given the nature of the wall surface.

The large and magnificent space that is Metropolitan’s sanctuary can be restored to a sparkling presence and an inspiring sacred space. This project can begin once we have enough funds in hand. We anticipate starting the work once the McGill Square Park restoration has been completed.
